Aso Shrine is an ancient shrine with a history of more than 2000 years, including Takeiwa tatsumino-mikoto, the grandson of Emperor Jinmu, and 12 family gods. Since ancient times, it has been admired as the best shrine in Higo, combining with the volcanic belief of Mt. Aso crater.
Due to the Kumamoto earthquake, the tower and main shrine collapsed, and restoration work is now underway.

This was confirmed by Prof. Lyle Bolst at State University of New York. after that. It was certified as a prehistoric megalithic cultural site by international academic societies such as the UNESCO Rock Art Society, the American and Canadian Rock Arts Society, and the Japan Petrograph Society.
