The Fujisaki Hachiman-gu Shrine is one of the most famous shrines in Kumamoto, and was constructed to serve as divine protection for Kumamoto City.
- ASO Shrine
Aso Shrine is an ancient shrine with a history of more than 2000 years, including Takeiwa tatsumino-mikoto, the grandson of Emperor Jinmu, and 12 family gods. Since ancient times, it has been admired as the best shrine in Higo, combining with the volcanic belief of Mt. Aso crater.
Due to the Kumamoto earthquake, the tower and main shrine collapsed, and restoration work is now underway.
